Lalu flays US imperialistic policy

Patna, Apr 7 (UNI) Railway minister Lalu Prasad today flayed the US government for its 'imperialistic' policy and said it was trying to play the role of a ''boss'' across the world by ''intervening'' in the internal affairs of the sovereign nations.

Inaugurating a meeting organised by All India Peace and Solidarity Organisation here, Mr Prasad alleged that the US did not want developing countries to move on the path of prosperity. '' US was exerting all sorts of pressure on developing countries to follow its diktat,'' he said adding those daring to defy invited the wrath of the imperialists.

''Like the US, other affluent countries also do not want India to become a prosperous and developed nation,'' he maintained.

Referring to the US aggression on Iraq, Mr Prasad said former Iraqi President Saddam Hussain was hanged on the day of Id-ul-zoha, which was the most unfortunate and deplorable incident.

Describing Saddam Hussain as good friend of India, Mr Prasad said the RJD and Left parties had urged the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to condemn the US attack on Iraq but the latter had refused to pay any heed due to his inclination towards the US.
