JD(S) to fight alone in the local bodies elections

Hubli, Apr 7 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumarswamy ruled out any electroll understanding with the Congress to fight the coming urban local bodies elections.

Speaking to newsmen here today Mr Kumaraswamy said that BJP state president D V Sadananda Gowda and JD(S) National President Mr H D Deve Gowda have already made it clear that the decision to having any alliance with the like-minded parties would be decided at the local level to fight the local bodies elections.

While ruling out any alliance with the Congress the Chief Minister however said that every political party in the country were facing dissident activities and indiciplene.

Expressing satisfaction that he had discharged his duties in fulfilling all the promise he had made before asuming office of the Chief Minister despite pulls and pressures from legislators. The decision of the state government to ban lotteries and arrack was bold one and no previous governments were dared to take such decisions.

On the Cauvery issue the Chief Minister has said that experts in Irrigation and legal matters were working on the final verdict of the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal and government would make all efforts to protect the interests of the state farmers. Agreeing that state suffered some setback in pursuing Tamil Nadu to the negotiating table on the sharing of Cauvery water Chief Minister chosed not to discuss further on the matter.
