Gram pradhan arrested for issuing fake ration cards

Ferozabad, Apr 7 (UNI) A gram pradhan was today arrested for issuing fake ration cards to voters in Tundla assembly constituency here, even as polling for the first phase of Uttar Pradesh polls is on.

Official sources said Humayunpur gram pradhan Swamicharan was caught red-handed near the P L Jain College polling centre.

Since all the voters could not be issued with election photo identity card (EPIC) on time, the Election Commission had relaxed the norms for casting votes in the first phase.

The EC had allowed 15 other documents, including ration card, as an alternative to EPIC for casting vote today.
