Good response to BJS bandh call in Madhya Pradesh

Badwani, MP, Apr 7 (UNI) An indefinite bandh called by the BJP to protest police lathicharge when two groups came in front of each other in this district's Rajpur town evoked a ''good response'' on the first day today.

A procession was being taken out by the members of a particular community yesterday to protest kidnapping of a girl in broad daylight by murder accused Rajkumar on April 3 when two groups came in front of each other.

Police used mild force to control the situation and avert a clash. About 25 people were injured in the incident.

Alleging that party workers were beaten up by police without any reason, BJP MLA Deewan Singh demanded action against responsible police officials and said the bandh would continue until action was taken.

Superintendent of Police N R Kushwaha said police were on the lookout for the kidnapped girl and the accused.

He said police had taken appropriate action in view of the situation.
