Four BMC officials arrested while accepting bribe
Mumbai, Apr 7 (UNI) Four Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials attached to the H-west ward, Bandra in western suburbs were caught red-handed today while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 from a vendor here.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of police (DCP) Vilas Tupe said here the accused Chandrakant Govind Pawar, Deepak Shivram Kamble, Chandrakant Gangarao Lad and-- Chandrakant Jayraom Pawar -- had been demanding a bribe of Rs 1,000 per month as ''hafta'' (bribe) from complainant Rajiv Ravindranath Pande, who runs a herbal juice centre on the footpath in Bandra.
Yesterday, the accused had gone to the complainant and informed him that they would come today to collect the bribe amount.
As he had already lodged a complaint with the ACB on April 3, sleuths from the department arrested the accused while accepting the bribe this morning.
They have been booked under section 7, 13(a)(d) and 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, Mr Tupe added.
