New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) A Delhi Police Head Constable died this morning after he was run over by a Blueline bus on Tilak Marg area of New Delhi district.

Harbans Lal (47) came under the rear wheel of a Blueline plying on route no 502 at about 0815 near Delhi Court while he was disembarking from it, said a senior police official.

As it was not a proper bus stand, the Head Constable tried to get down as the bus slowed but he slipped and got crushed by the rear wheel of the bus.

He was rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where he died.

However, his postmortem was conducted at Lady Hardinge Hospital.

A Father of five children, Lal, deployed with the High Court security, had left his West Kanti Nagar home this morning for duty with his wireless set and weapon, the officer added.

Police said the bus had been impounded and a search was on to nab the driver, who along with the conductor fled the spot.
