Curfew relaxed in MP township

Rajgarh, MP, Apr 7 (UNI) Curfew was relaxed for 12 hours from 0600 hrs to 1800 hrs at this district's Narsinghgarh tahsil headquarters in Madhya Prdesh which witnessed communal violence on April 2 and more than 150 related arrests took place this evening. ''The situation is entirely under control and markets are starting to open up,'' said Collector G P Tiwari, adding the curfew-relaxation period could be extended.

The board examination of class VIII students was held in the township in the day.

He said no untoward incident had been reported up to 1600 hrs.

Police and the district administration were monitoring the situation.

Madhya Pradesh Congress President Subhash Yadav today met people affected due to communal violence and arson. He also held discussions with administrative officials.

Curfew was imposed in Narsinghgarh tahsil headquarters on April 2 following tension in the wake of stone-pelting and subsequent arson targeting shops and vehicles. Three people were killed in the communal disturbances.
