Captain refused informing police about killing, claims Ind fishermen
Dubai, Apr 7 (UNI) Four Indian fishermen, facing criminal charges here for an off-shore accident that killed another seaman, claimed they were not allowed by the captain to report the incident to the police.
Joseph Antony (55), Peter Jeniz (36), Xavier Gregory (48) and Antony Moses (32) are accused of causing the death of Saif Rashid when his vessel was allegedly struck by the fishermen's boat on November 27 last year.
The four claimed they informed the boat owner who asked them to maintain silence as the vessel did not have insurance, Emirates Today reported.
They said the incident took place near the Iran border at night when the ship did not have light.
Jeniz was recently released on bail with the help of one Emirati well-wisher.
