Capital Hospital to be converted into Medical College
Bhubaneswar,Apr 07(UNI) Orissa government run Capital Hospital here will be converted into a Medical College and Hospital.
A decision in this regard was taken today at a high level meeting in the state secretariat chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The government decided to use the existing infrastructure of the Capital Hospital for the Medical College and Hospital and open post graduate courses in some disciplines.
Mr Patnaik directed the department to appoint professors and doctors to make the hospital suitable for a full fledged Medical College and Hospital.
The meeting also decided to enhance the incentive for the doctors posted in the KBK region besides the tribal dominated Boudh, Kandhmal and Gajapati districts. The Specialists posted at the District Headquarters Hospital would also received enhanced special allowance and accordingly budgetary provision would be made to meet the committment.
Official sources said the state government decided to spend nearly Rs 350 crores from the Infrastructure Development Fund and Backward Region Development Fund to construct houses for the doctors and other paramedical staff posted in the Block level hospitals.
The meeting also proposed to increase the seat strength in Anatomy, Physiology, Anesthesia, micro biology and skin VD in all the three government run Medical Colleges and Hospital in the state and introduce PG Diploma course in Radiology and Anesthesiology.
It was also decided to appoint Hospital Manager and Data manager in all the three Medical Colleges and Hospital Manager in the district Headquarters hospitals in the state on contractual basis for better management of the hospitals.
The Chief Minister also approved the proposal to recruit 800 nurses on contract basis to fill up the large scale vacancies in various hospitals.
