BRO to connect all border points in Arunachal: Rijiju
Itanagar, Apr 7 (UNI) Border Roads Organisation(BRO) would make extra efforts to connect border points in the state in Phase B of the Special Accelerated Road Development Programme-North East (SARDP-NE), BJP national secretary and Lok Sabha MP Kiren Rijiju said today.
Addressing media persons here this morning after returning from an extensive two-day survey of the National Highway 52 and 52(A), along with Minister of State for Defence M M P Raju, MP Tapir Gao and other senior defence and BRO officials, Mr Rijiju expressed satisfaction over the progress of the road projects in the border areas being undertaken by the BRO in the phase A of the SARDP.
He said the survey was conducted from Tezpur in Asom's Sonitpur district which culminated at Along in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
''It was conducted to study the future plans and prospects of development of roads in Arunachal Pradesh and North East as a whole,'' he added.
While disclosing that most of the projects under phase B of the SARDP would be executed in this Himalayan state, Mr Rijiju added that the programme would be completed within 2012.
Under the phase B, Tato to Taliha road would be linked to connect West Siang with Upper Subansiri districts, while Bana to Seppa road under East Kameng district would be expanded, he said, adding that the bridge over Siang River at Raneghat under East Siang district would also be completed during the period.
Referring to the ongoing political crisis in the state, the MP categorically dismissed allegations leveled against his party of hobnobbing with a few disgruntled Congress ministers and MLAs to destabilize the government.
''BJP has no role in the present political crisis as it is an internal problem of the Congress,'' he said and termed the allegation as 'baseless', which was aimed to divert the attention of the people from the real issue.
Commenting on the ongoing crisis he said that BJP had time and again accused the state for its failure in taking up the real issue of the state, which, he said, was proven by the Congress members.
