New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) A resurgent BJP seemed set to storm to power in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi today as a wave against inflation, incumbency and sealing swept away the ruling Congress.

On a comeback trail, the BJP had won 26 seats and surged ahead in 151 wards as results for the just-concluded MCD elections poured in.

Out of the results for 39 of the 272 seats declared so far, the Congress had won nine seats, the NCP two, the BSP one and one went to an Independent, according to official sources.

As per the trends available for 228 seats, the Congress was leading in 51 wards, former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana's Bharatiya Jan Shakti Party in three places and others in 23 seats.

A triumphant BJP has claimed that the results amounted to ''a victory of the people who were traumatised during the Congress' five-year rule''.

Hailing the BJP's win, party leader Jagdish Mukhi said it was a mandate against the anti-people policies of the Congress.

''The common man was troubled on several fronts -- price rise, sealing, demolitions, faulty electricity meters, erratic water supply and declining law and order situation,'' he added.

Party MLA Vijay Jolly said the results were a referendum on the Delhi government and its policies - both at the MCD and the State level.
