Baalu assures to take up highway connectivity projects for Tripura
New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today stressed the need for urgent strengthening and upgradation of 330 km road stretch from Churaibari- Agartala-Sabroom on NH-44 in Tripura.
Mr Sarkar raised the issue during an hour-long meeting with the Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Minister T R Baalu here.
Mr Baalu informed that 200 km road stretch from Tripura to Agartala is under SARDP-NE(phase-B), out of which 85 km is two lane and the remaining 115 km is intermediate/single lane.
He assured Mr Sarkar that he would instruct the officials of his Ministry to take the first phase of the road stretch for inclusion in the modified SARDP-NE.
When Mr Sarkar also requested Mr Baalu for proper re-alignment of NH-44A, Mr Baalu asked him to send a detailed proposal in this regard from the Tripura Government for the consideration of his Ministry.
Mr Baalu said work on the four-laned road connectivity to Agartala which is also in the East West Corridor is progressing fast. This connectivity will be provided through Shllong and Jorhat, he added.
