Azad launches Rs 7 crore Devik beautification project

Jammu, Apr 7 (UNI) Launching ambitious Devik conservation, protection and beautification project at Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said this would realize a long-cherished demand of people of the state.

The Rs 7.08 crore project envisages beautification of surroundings of the water body having religious significance as well. The project also promises conservation and flood protection aspects.

Mr Azad said immediately after this long-pending demand was brought to his notice, he took the required measures to get the project sanctioned from the Government of India.

The Chief Minister said a new meaning is being given to entire development effort in the state by ensuring development of urban alongwith rural areas.

''While we are striving for transforming our rural face so far as availability of basic facilities are concerned and bringing villages at par with towns, efforts are also on to upgrade the cities and towns,'' he said.

Mr Azad said a massive infrastructure development effort has been launched across the state for ensuring greater road connectivity, upgraded healthcare, education and drinking water facilities besides other sectors are receiving focused attention for all-round development.
