9 OGWs arrested; LET, Al Badr hideouts busted in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 7 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed to have arrested nine Over Ground Workers (OGWs), working for militants and busted several Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) and Al Badr hideouts in south Kashmir besides recovering deadly RDX.

A police spokesman said special police teams rushed to different areas in Pulwama district after receiving information that some OGWs were helping militants.

He said during the 24-hour-long raids at different places, the police teams arrested nine OGWs and recovered some arms and ammunition, including five kg deadly RDX.

The arrested have admitted during questioning that they were supporting militants and working as arms couriers, he added.

Acting on a specific information, police and personnel from the 166 battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off village Arrah, Kulgam, in south Kashmir district of Anantnag last night.

During searches, security forces destroyed three Lashker hideouts made in the houses of one Nisar Ahmed Mir and Zahoor Ahmed Dar.

Blankets, fruits, biscuits and dry fruits were seized from the hideouts, the police spokesman added.

In another raid, two LeT and Al Badr hideouts were busted in Barigam village and Chak Cholan in Shopian area of Pulwama district, he said.
