249 rave party revellers test positive for drugs

Pune, Apr 7 (UNI) The Pune Rural Police today said 249 youths among the 287 who were held last month during a raid on a rave party near here have tested positive for drugs.

Blood samples of 287 youths were taken following the raids.

However, the police appear to have taken a soft stand regarding the action to be taken against the youngsters. Superintendent of Police (Rural) Vishwas Nangre-Patil said, ''We will take help from NGOs to counsel the youngsters.'' It may be recalled that last month, over 290 revellers mostly college-going students, including 29 girls, arrived from different parts of the country to attend a ''Rave Party'' at a private hotel near here after receiving invites on a social networking website.

The rural police had raided the hotel and arrested the youngsters who were later released on bail.
