TN govt's decision to give Muslim, Chritisian reservation criticis

New Delhi, Apr 6 (UNI) The All India United Muslim Morcha has strongly condemned the DMK government's decision to provide separate reservation to Muslims and Christians in education and jobs in Tamil Nadu and said the Karunanidhi government was trying to betray the people of the state.

AIUMM President Ejaz Ali said here that it was not possible for any state government to provide separate reservation for any community in any state on the basis of religion till there was an amendment in the Consitution.

''The Karunanidhi government is trying to betray the two communities in the same way as it was done by the Reddy governemnt in Andhra Pradesh in 2005,'' he said.

Mr Ali urged the DMK government to get a resolution passed from the Tamil Nadu assembly in favour of inclusion of dalit Christians and dalit muslims in the Scheduled Caste category as done by the Bihar and Uttar Pradesh governments.

He said that the DMK had promised to provide reservation to Dalit Christians and Muslims in its own manifesto but ''now it was trying to cheat them.'' UNI AJ MIR RN1828
