Three bodies recovered from river

Kochi, Apr 6 (UNI) The bodies of three city boys, who drowned in the Periyar river near Adivaram church at Malayattoor in Ernakulam district last evening, were handed over to the relatives this morning after completing necessary formalities.

Police officials said the deceased were identified as Nishin Thomas (17) Justin (14) and Ajay (14).

The bodies were fished out by the police and fire and rescue services personnel last night.

The boys, along with another friend Anand, had left Kochi yesterday afternoon to visit the Malayattoor church. They went down to the river to take a bath before visiting the church.

Anand, who went to a nearby shop raised an alarm when he came back to the spot and found the boys missing.

The three boys might have got caught in sand-mining pits in the river and were drowned, police added.
