Thane bags three awards for best hospital in State
Thane, Apr 6 (UNI) Three hospitals in Thane have won the best hospital awards in the State.
Oras Civil hospital in Sindhudurg district here won the first prize for the best civil hospital, while Dahanu (RH) sub-district hospital and Gholwad Public Health Clinic won first prizes in sub-district hospital and PHC categories respectively.
The awards, given in memory of Dr Anandibai Joshi and instituted by the State government, carries a cash prize of Rs one lakh for best civil hospital, Rs 75,000 for best sub-district hospital, Rs 50,000 for best PHC among others.
The awards were started last year and this is the second year that Thane district has won as many as three awards.
Dr Charulata Dhanke of Khinavali in Sahapur taluka won the best medical officer award.
The awards will given at a function in Pune, on the occasion of World Health day tomorrow, to be presided by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil.
The three awards only signify how medical services have improved in Thane district, which once boasted a high number of child and malnutrition deaths.
