TDP launches "Chaitanya Yatra" against Babli project
Nalgonda, Andhra Pradesh, Apr 6 (UNI) The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today launched ''Chaitanya Yatra'' ('Awareness rally') on the Babli project on river Godavari taken up by Maharashtra.
Speaking at a public meeting, Mr Naidu alleged that the state government had failed to stop the construction of Babli project which would create water scarcity in Telangana region once the project was completed.
The Backward Telangana region would turn into a desert if Maharashtra take up 11 projects which were under proposal on river Godavari, he claimed.
Calling on all political parties to join hands to fight against the Babli project, Mr Naidu said the party had organised the rally to initiate pressure on the government for stopping the construction of the project.
