Rahul's Babri comment reflective of 'seized mindset': Advani

New Delhi, Apr 6 (UNI) The Babri demolition controversy stirred by Rahul Gandhi's comments today once again came into focus with BJP icon L K Advani describing the comments as a result of the 'seized mindset' of the Gandhis that only one family was capable of ruling the nation.

Speaking at the party's 28th anniversary celebrations here, Mr Advani said the remark was not from a political novice, as it was being made, but a reflection of a particular mindset.

''And the Congress itself was responsible for giving legitimacy to such a mindset.'' In the same vein, Mr Advani also mocked at the Communists for enjoying ''power without responsibility'' which suffered with the Stalinist mentality -- cruel and brute against opponents -- as the Nandigram incident had exposed.

On the other hand in BJP individuals have to be persuaded to take up positions said Mr Advani while recalling how he and Vajpayee were coaxed into accepting the party leadership.

Claiming that all setbacks received by the party had been turned into opportunities to scale greater heights, he said the BJP had been reduced to merely two seats in 1984, one seat less than what it won in the first general elections in 1952, but bounced back 1989 with 84 seats on its own.

Similarly the party did not consider losing the 2004 elections as a setback, although it got merely seven seats less than the Congress, said the BJP leader.

''The results in Bihar, Punjab and Uttaranchal have proved that the BJP juggernaut cannot be stopped and soon the results in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Himachal would bring back the party's supremacy at the national level.'' Predicting that the days of Communism were numbered, as was evident from its 'disappearance' from most parts of the world including USSR and Yugoslavia, since they themselves were in conflict with their ideology proved by the differences cropping among them on the SEZ and disinvestment issues, Mr Advani observed.
