Radhabinod elected Leader of the Opposition
Imphal, April 06 (UNI) Former Manipur Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam, also the NCP president, was elected as Leader of the Opposition yesterday, Assembly sources said today.
He was elected during a meeting of the Opposition group last evening at the Assembly's committee room.
The Opposition group consists of NCP, Manipur people's Party (MPP) and Independent MLAs.
Dr Ng Bijoy of MPP proposed the name of Radhabinod and was seconded by Morung Makunga, MLA(Ind).
Morung Makunga was elected as the Whip chief of the Group.
Mr Koijam had been entrusted to find a consensus candidate for the Hill Areas Committee's chairman. The meeting further noted that the post of Dy Speaker has been given to the Opposition and the Secular Progressive Front government headed by O Ibobi will be approached in this regard.
