Party of technocrats fields 4 more candidates for UP polls

Lucknow, Apr 6(UNI) Bharat Punarnirman Dal (BPD), a party of intellectuals and technocrats, today announced names of four more candidates for the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.

The party, which is contesting around 20 seats in the seven-phase polling in 403 assembly segements, has fielded technocrat Ajay Kumar Singh from Nawabganj assembly seat in Barabanki district, Mr Suryalal from Allahabad(South), Awadhesh Mishra from Varanasi (South) and Pankaj Tiwari from Ayodhya assembly seat in Faizabad district.

While Ajay has done his engineering from Moscow and has a MBA degree, Suryalal and Pankaj are practicing lawyers. Awadhesh holds a masters degree in Biotechnology.

BPD president Ajit Shukla, an IIT (Kanpur) pass-out, told mediapersons that talks for few other seats are on and within a couple of days, another list of candidates including some in Lucknow will be released.

The party candidates are already contesting from three seats in Kanpur city, one in Kanpur Dehat and supporting an independent candidate in Ghaziabad. ''Book'' is the official symbol of the party.

Ravi Bharat, in-charge UP elections, maintained that the main agenda of the party is to make people aware of their responsibility to participate in the election process and to give a platform to those who can really change the development scenario of the country, a chance to contest polls.
