''If we want to make Jammu and Kashmir borders irrelevant, then Indian and Pakistani leadership should allow free trade, travel and commerce between the two parts of the state,'' Mufti Sayeed said at a press conference, which was also attended by party president Mehbooba Mufti.

The former Chief Minister, who held extensive talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and others on reduction of troops in the state, said the relationship between the two sides can be improved and consolidated in social and cultural aspects also.

The PDP will strive with full vigour to meet aspiration of the people for practical unity even though border can stay.

The Mufti also hoped that the Hurriyat and other separatist groups would take part in the next year's elections in the state.''It is my earnest hope that the Hurriyat and the separatists join the electoral process,'' Mr Sayeed said.
