Minister's convoy attacked
Narsinghpur, MP, Apr 6 (UNI) Bharatiya Jan Shakti (BJS) Party workers today attacked the convoy of Madhya Pradesh Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi at Gotegaon in this district, police said.
During the attack, window panes of several vehicles were broken and the passengers beaten up.
Police have registered cases against 14 people, including two BJP legislators, known to be Uma Bharti supporters.
Narsinghpur MLA Jalam Singh Patel and Gotegaon MLA Hakam Singh Chadhar have already been suspended from the BJP on the charges of indiscipline.
Two BJP workers -- Ashok Singh and Habib Khan -- were injured in the incident and were admitted to hospital. Four vehicles suffered damages.
Mr Vishnoi's convoy was on its way to Narsinghpur when it was attacked at around 1100 hrs.
As soon as the convoy entered Gotegaon, BJS workers waved black flags and shouted slogans. The vehicles towards the rear of the convoy were attacked.
Superintendent of Police B K Srivastava said no tension prevailed in the town after the incident. Adequate police force had been deployed in the area.
BJS General Secretary Prahlad Patel's younger brother Jalam Singh Patel said workers of the BJS and the Khet Kisan Bachao Sangh had decided to wave black flags at Mr Vishnoi, who is also district incharge minister, over problems of farmers.
However, the decision was put on hold when the district administration informed that the minister was ready to meet their delegation.
The workers were agitated when the minister's vehicle did not stop at the scheduled place, Mr patel said.
He said he was ready to go to jail over problems of farmers and would not seek bail.
Mr Chadhar said he had received injuries on head and back due to alleged use of force by police.
A senior officer of the district administration said from the beginning, the intention of BJS workers was to create a disruption.
The minister's vehicle was not stopped dueto this.
After discussion with senior officers, Mr Vishnoi left for Narsinghpur.
