Mercury in Delhi rises to 36.6 degrees C

New Delhi, Apr 6 (UNI) The coolness prevailing in Delhi since the beginning of this week abated today with the mercury rising to 36.6 degrees Celsius.

With a decrease in the intensity of the Northwesterly winds, which had brought about a coolness in the air in the capital since Tuesday, the maximum temperature rose to 36.6 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal. The minimum also rose to 20 degrees Celsius.

The coming days could witness a return to the scorching heat in Delhi with the weather office forecasting a rise in day temperatures in Delhi and other parts of Northwest India in the next 48 hours.

''There is likely to be a gradual rise in day temperatures over the plains of Northwest India in the next 48 hours,''the weather office said.

The Met office has forecast a mainly clear sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours. They have also forecast a rise in maximum temperature in Delhi to 38 degrees C tomorrow.

Northwesterly winds have been bringing coolness in the air in the capital since early this week, bringing relief to the people of Delhi from the scorching heat of the past week.
