Meeting on Tourism promotion and heritage conservation held

Mysore, Apr 6 (UNI) Top officials held a meeting with District Deputy Commissioner here today to finalise the project reports regarding Tourism promotion and Heritage conservation in the City under the Union Government sponsored Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).

The Mysore was one of the 63 cities in the country selected under the Rs 1800 Crore JNNURM-a seven year programme, The meeting was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner S Selva Kumar and G Kumar Nayak, Commissioner for Karnataka Tourism who explained the details of the project. The meeting discussed the Detail project reports (DPR) for tourism promotion and heritage conservation at Chamundihills and world famous Mysore palace and its surroundings.

Speaking to newsmen, Mr Kumar Nayak said that the DPR on Chamundi Hills was ready and that of palace was nearing completion. The DPRs of the two projects, costing up to Rs 75 Crores under JNNURM would be sent to the central government for approval by this month end.

The meeting discussed the responsibilities of stake holders, maintenance and implementation strategies. The projects also provide for modification of traffic system.
