Barrackpore, Apr 6 (UNI) A school student from Madhya Pradesh was feared drowned in the river Hooghly at Dakshineshwar in North 24 Parganas this afternoon, police said.

Local Police authority called the disaster management group of the city's river traffic police and its two divers made an abortive attempt to locate the body.

Rinkesh Kumar (15), a visting member of Madhya Pradesh Sainik School from Rewa, drowned in the river when some of the students were taking bath this afternoon.

Barring Rinkesh all the students who were taking bath reached ashore, police said.

Altogether 72 students guided by three teachers had been visiting the city and adjoining tourists spots including Belur Math and Dakshineshwar temple today.

This was the second incident at the Dakshineshwar Ghat after a 21-year-old youth from Howrah drowned on April 2 last.
