Health Parade marks World Health Day
NEW DELHI, Apr 6 (UNI) The Heart Care Foundation of India and various departments of the Centre and the state jointly organised a "Perfect Health Parade" here today, seventh in the series of annual health parades.
The current year's WHO day theme underlines the theme "international health security". Flagged off outside Moolchand Hospital at 1100 hrs, the parade culminated at Rajghat at 1400 hrs covering a distance of 40 kms.
The parade had multiple contingents of school children, nurses, doctors and other healthcare workers carrying banners and messages on the vehicles. The focus was on health workers who have not been given the attention they deserve.
The emphasis is more on prostrate disease awareness programme besides malaria and dengue. A holistic approach to keep good health holds key, according to organisers.
Other organisations associated with the health parade included World Lung Foundation, South Africa (WLF -- SA), and Federation of NCR Doctors. WLF-SA President G R Khatri said the organisation would participate by spreading awareness about the prevention and management of lung diseases.
Additional subjects covered by the parade include asthma, high blood pressure, tobacco addiction, HIV/AIDS, diarrhoea, tuberculosis and DOTS.
