HC reserves judgement on Writ Petition

Hyderabad, Apr 6 (UNI) Justice V V S Rao, Judge of the Andhra Pradesh Hight Court reserved the judgement on a Writ Petition filed by the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

Ms Jayalalithaa filed the Writ Petition questioning the notices issued to her by the Mandal Revenue Officer, Qutbullapur Mandal seeking her explanation as to why the lands purchased by her in the Mandal, which were assigned lands, could not be resumed by the government.

Ms Jayalalithaa contended yesterday that she purchased the lands prior to the commencement of the Assigned Lands Act and hence her lands could not be resumed in exercise of the powers under the Andhra Pradesh Assigned Lands (Prohibition of Transfers) Act, 1977.

The Judge reserved the judgement.
