Five shot dead in Manipur

Imphal, Apr 6 (UNI) Five persons, including a suspected militant, were shot dead in three separate incidents during the past 24 hours in Manipur.

Three youths were shot dead by the Imphal west police at Kwakeithel, here today. Police said they resorted to firing resulting in the death of the three youths who they alleged were moving suspiciously and did not stop when asked. The three, aged around 25 years, were identified as Sapam Paka, Naorem Boba and Kabui. The area was tense as people protested the killing and claimed that the three were innocent persons.

In another incident, a suspected militant was shot dead by troops here yesterday and one 9 mm pistol was recovered from him.

In amother incident, a man was shot dead by unidentified miscreants here, police added.
