Fire at Soft drinks godown

Madurai, Apr 6 (UNI) A major fire broke out at the godown of a popular soft drink company near the Railway junction complex in the city early today.

Police said after noticing the fire residents in the nearby area rushed out of their houses. Two firetenders as well as two water tankers were engaged for more than an hour in putting out the blaze.

Preliminary inquiry revealed that short circuit was reported to have caused the fire. The loss to property was being assessed, police added.
