EC sends additional 24 Observers to UP
New Delhi, Apr 6 (UNI) In anticipation of violence and communal flare-ups during the forthcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, for which the first phase of voting will be held tomorrow, the Election Commission has despatched an additional 24 Observers ] to the state.
According to EC sources, this step was initiated as an additional security measure in sensitive areas in the districts where polling is going to be held tomorrow.
This is over the 100 static Observers who will be deployed inside the sensitive poling booths.
These measures have been taken to prevent rigging, booth-capturing and election-related violence, the sources added.
