Congress puts Nitish govt in dock over BPL list

Patna, Apr 6 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and general secretary of All India Congress Committee(AICC) Digvijay Singh today blamed Nitish government for large-scale irregularities in BPL list in Bihar and alleged the NDA government was not executing various welfare schemes funded by the Centre.

Addressing party workers, who were sitting on dharna before Phulwarisharif block office here, Mr Singh castigated the NDA government for its failure to provide foodgrains and kerosene oil to the poor.

Despite the release of the adequate quota of foodgrains and kerosene oil by the Centre, the state administration failed to distribute it among the poor, he lamented.

Suspecting a ''racket'' in public distribution system, he urged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to order thorough inquiry into the episode to expose the persons involved in it. He said the state government failed to take action against those behind ''black marketing'' of essential commodities meant for distribution among the poor.

Mr Singh said the Congress would continue to vent its anger against the failure of Nitish government by organising dharna before the block offices across the state.
