BSP seeks derecognition of BJP, ban on exit polls

New Delhi, Apr 6 (UNI) The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today sought the immediate derecognition of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for ''openly flouting'' norms by issuing a video CD which could lead to communal tensions in Uttar Pradesh where the election process is underway.

A high level delegation of BSP filed a complaint with EC in this connection, seeking action against the saffron party under Section 29 of the Representation of the Peoples Act, 1951 and requested them to take away the BJP's party symbol.

Later, a member of the BSP delegation told waiting mediapersons outside that since BJP is a duly registered and recognised political party but has violated Section 29 (5) of the Act so it should be immediately derecognised.

The BSP has also sought a ban on the telecasting/broadcasting of the exit polls till the entire election process is over as these could influnce the voters.
