Bronze inscription found in Shimoga dist

Shimoga, Karnataka, Apr 6 (UNI) An ancient bronze inscription has been found at Keladi in Shimoga district of Karnataka by Dr G V Kallapur of Keladi Museum and History Research Centre recently.

In a statement here, he said the Jain inscription, written in Nagari script, revealed the establishment date of Jaina Basadi at Keladi -- about 830 years ago. It also carried an image of Parshvanath Tirthankara sitting in Padmasana posture.

There was no elaborate study on the history of the Basadi so far, he added.
