BJP government in HP after assembly elections, says Rajnath

Hamirpur, Apr 6 (UNI) BJP's national president Rajnath Singh today predicted that the party will form the next government in Himachal Pradesh after assembly elections that were due in February next year.

Addressing the party's Sataprivartan Rally here, he said the presence of large number of people in the rally from far and wide was indicative that the state Congress Government's days in office were numbered.

Mr Singh said his party was against the UPA Government's policy of providing reservation to the people on religion basis and termed the government's policy as appeasement of the minorities for garnering a few votes.

''The BJP is against any such policy and would help all irrespective of their caste, creed or religion. The party will not adopt the policy of appeasement towards any one.'' Demanding a high level probe by a sitting judge of Supreme Court into the export of pulses despite a ban on its export, he said it was a serious issue and must be probed as the rates of pulses had sky rocketed in the Indian markets due to the continuing exports.

''The UPA Government is a government of scams,'' he said.

Mr Singh said a Joint Consultative Committee of both houses of parliament should be constituted to find out the root cause of price rise in the country and suggest punishment to the guilty people.

When there was ample stocks of food grains in the country, why more food items were being imported, he questioned and asked the government to name people involved in importing foodgrains from other countries.

Exhorting the people of the state to reject the Congress in the coming parliamentary and later assembly elections, he said the trend had already begun with people of Punjab and Uttrakhand rejecting the Congress party.

Party national Vice Presidents Sahib Singh Verma and Shanta Kumar former Himachal chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and state party president Jai Ram Thakur also addressed the rally.
