Hyderabad, Apr 6 (UNI) To seek the support of Telugu population in Uttar Pradesh in the seven-phase Assembly elections, BJP leaders from Andhra Pradesh will campaign there, the party's Andhra Pradesh unit President Bandaru Dattatreya said today.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Dattatreya said the BJP leaders and former Union ministers belonging to the state would participate in the election campaign after the party High Command finalises the schedule.

The campaign would further strengthen the BJP's vote bank by uniting the Telugu-speaking people in Varanasi, Delhi border areas, Noida and other parts of UP, he said.

Stating the former Union ministers Ch Vidya Sagar Rao, actor-politician Krishnam Raju and BJP national Secretary N Indrasena Reddy will take part in the campaign, he said, he would also participate in the campaign along with other leaders.

Referring to yesterday's ruling by Allahabad High court that Muslims in Uttar Pradesh could no longer be treated as minorities, he said the ruling must serve as an 'eye opener' to the Congress-led UPA government which was adopting 'vote bank politics' by appeasing a community since coming to power at the Centre.

Earlier, participating in a public meeting organised on the occasion of 27th BJP formation day celebrations, Mr Dattatreya said the party has launched 'Janajagarana' programmes to highlight the state government's failures and ISI activities in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, and religious conversions in the state. This will last till April 13.
