Akashvani Annual Awards at Jammu on April 8

Jammu, Apr 5 (UNI) The prestigious Akashvani Annual Awards function to felicitate the eminent personality in radio and in the field of art will be held here on April 8.

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi will be the chief guest on the occasion, which would be held at the newly-opened state-of-the-art General Zorawar Singh auditorium in Jammu University.

''It is for the first time that the Akashvani Annual Awards would be organised at Jammu,'' sources said.

Besides the award distribution ceremony, the main feature of the function will be a choral song by senior and junior groups and the presentation of Mr S D Burman's composition by one Tanushree Shankar and the party from Kolkata, they added.

While Mr Karnail Singh Rana and party will present Himachal folk songs, there will be Kashmiri and Dogri folk dance items to showcase the composite culture of JK, the sources said.

Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad will grace the occasion as the guest of honour.
