33 rebels return to mainstream in Tripura
Agartala, Apr 06 (UNI) In all 33 militants of both banned All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) and National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) outfits returned to the mainstream during this month.
Acording to police sources, eight rebels belonged to banned NLFT and ATTF have surrendered to the security forces in different parts of the state during last three days.
Four more insurgents including a 'self-styled sergeant' of NLFT surrendered to the SDPO of Jirania in West district yesterday but no arms and ammunition was deposited.
Last year 91 such militants had surrendered to the authorities in the state.
According to surrendered militants, they fled their base camps in neighbouring Bangladesh few days ago deciding to return to normal life and said their comrades from both NLFT and ATTF had expressed willingness to bid farewell to the jungle life. Those militants who now are in Bangladesh camps will leave the camps at a suitable time and surrender.
Present Government in Bangladesh had stepped up its action against the various Indian militants groups and this was also one of the major cause that forced various outfits to flee the camps.
