TTD chairman inaugurates free out-patient clinic

Tirupati, Apr 5 (UNI) Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman B Karunakara Reddy has inaugurated a free out-patient clinic of the proposed Sri Padmavathi Medical College and Hospital (SPMCH), in the presence of Kanchi Seer Jayandra Saraswathi at Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam premises here today.

The Rs 80 crore hospital would be jointly set up by the Kanchi Mutt and Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) on 60 acre land given by the government near Renigunta.

Speaking on the occasion, the college trustee member Mr Siva Sambu said SPMCH would be completed in a year and nine more free clinics woukd be set up in and around Reniguta for the benefit of the poor and needy.

The hospital was also planning to establish a rural medical centre at a neighbouring village, where 300 families were living without andy proper medical care, he added.

Twenty six per cent of the total population in the country had no medical facilties and Kanchi Mutt have already established hospitals at Guntur, North and Eastern areas, where medical facilties were being provid to the poor people, SVIMS Director D Subramanyam said.
