Tributes paid to Babu Jagjivan Ram on 100th birth anniversary
New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh led the nation in paying respects to former Deputy PM Jagjivan Ram on 100th birth anniversary today.
Mr Singh, union ministers Shiraj Patil and Sushil Kumar Shinde, Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan and K H Muniyappa and a host of dignitaries paid floral tributes to Babu Jagjivan Ram at 'Samta Sthal' here.
The former deputy prime minister's daughter Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Meera Kumar was also present at the occasion.
An all religion prayer meet was also held at Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial in Central Delhi, which was attended among others by former Prime Minister I K Gujral.
A 'shobha Yatra' was also organised in the city to commemorate Babu Jagjivan Ram's birth centenary. The rally that started from Red Fort passed through various places in the Walled City before ending at Samta Sthal.
