TN Govt introduces e-stamping to collect stamp duty

Chennai, Apr 5 (UNI) With a view to preventing circulation of fake stamp papers, the Tamil Nadu government today announced introduction of e-stamping, a first of its kind initiative in the country, to collect stamp duty.

Replying to the debate on the demand for grants for his department in the Assembly, Minister for Backward classes M R K Panneerselvam said introduction of e-system would ensure collection of stamp duty revenue without any hassle.

Stating that circulation of fake stamp papers pose a continuous threat to the State economy, he said the e-stamping initiative was to prevent circulation of fake stamp papers.
