SP burns Rajnath's effigy over controversial CD
Varanasi, Apr 5 (UNI) Samajwadi Party activists here today burnt an effigy of BJP president Rajnath Singh over the release of a CD containing ''objectionable'' remarks against Muslims, besides visuals of the Godhra train attack and the demolition of the babri masjid.
Led by party leader Rajendra Trivedi, the SP activists and students of Harishchandra Degree College burnt the BJP president in effigy at Maidagin crossing.
Raising anti-BJP slogans, the SP activists alleged the saffron party was ''stoking the communal fire to manage a few seats in the assembly poll in Uttar Pradesh''. ''The release of the CD is one such instrument to fan communal passions for deriving electoral benefits by the BJP,'' Mr Trivedi said.
Despite the BJP withdrawing the controversial audio-visual CD meant for election campaigning, Election Commission had yesterday sought the copy of the concerned CD.
