New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) The Supreme Court today granted three weeks' time to the state of Tamil Nadu to file rejoinder to the counter affidavit of the state of Kerala opposing the proposal for deployment of central forces for safety of the MullaPeriyar Dam.

A bench comprising chief justice K G Balakrishanan and Justice R V Raveendran granted the time to TN who had filed an application for directions to the Centre to deploy central forces to safeguard the dam as there was threat to its security from the state of Kerala which is bitterly opposed to the construction of the dam over river Periyar according to the Kerala government it was against the interest of the state and state of Tamil Nadu shall get more than its legitimate share in the water.

The state of TN wants to maintain water level at 136 ft to meet the drinking and irrgiation needs of the state.
