Revenue dept asked to make a statement on SEZ

Mumbai, Apr 5 (UNI) Chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council Shivajirao Deshmukh today directed the revenue department to make a statement on the issue of acquiring land for Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

The directives were given on a point of propriety raised by Jayant Patil (PWP). Mr Patil alleged that despite the assurance by Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh that the land would be taken only after satisfying the farmers by paying them the proper price; still it is not happening.

It may be recalled that Mr Patil belongs to Raigad district where new SEZs are coming up.

Mr Deshmukh said that the issue is serious and asked the revenue department to make a statement regarding the same in the house.
