Ahmedabad, Apr 5 (UNI) City police today claimed to have solved the kidnapping and murder of an engineering student, and have arrested three people in this connection.

Crime Branch sleuths this morning arrested kingpin Mukesh Mochi (34) and two of his accomplices -- Asif Rana and Salim Sheikh -- for allegedly abducting Dipesh Gadhvi(18), while he was going to his R S Patel Institute of Technology, located 35 kms away at Goblag village, from Narole area of the city on March 26.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Manoj Shashidhar told mediapersons here that the trio was nabbed after Dipesh's family pointed Mukesh as a one of the suspects for the crime because of their long pending money dispute with him.

Mr Shashidhar said, after kidnapping Dipesh, the accused had taken him to Khambhat town, about 100 kms from here in Kheda district and demanded a ransom of Rs 15 lakh from his father Purshottam from a public phone.

However, later fearing of being caught, the trio had murdered Dipesh with a sharp weapon near a water-canal at Dabhan village the same night at around 2200 hours.

The trio had continued to demand ransom to mislead the police and Dipesh family.

Further with an attempt to destroy the evidence, the gangsters had also dropped their blood stained clothes in an abandoned well near railway crossing in Narole area, Mr Shashidhar added.
