Police lob teargas shells to disperse violent mob

Bangalore, Apr 5 (UNI) Police lobbed teargas shells to disperse a mob, which resorted to violence and road blocking in protest against a road mishap in which a teenaged boy was killed on the spot and another injured on Hosur road under Athibele police station limits, here today.

Police said the trouble started when a lorry hit a motorcycle, killing the rider and injuring the pillion rider. Timely arrival of the police prevented torching of the lorry by the enraged public.

However, people put up road blockades, which resulted in a verbal duel with drivers of a fleet of military vehicles, forcing the police to lob teargas shells after lathi charge was found to be futile.

The situation was under control and vehicular movement was normal now, police added.

The injured was admitted to a private hospital.
