Bangalore, Apr 5 (UNI) The entire Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly today staged a walk out protesting against the State Government passing the Karnataka Land Revenue and Certain Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2007.

Mr Rameshkumar (Congress) said the Bill, piloted by Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar, claimed that this would burden the exchequer and introduce changes only in the nomenclature by seeking to appoint Regional Commissioners instead of Divisional Commissioners.

He appealed to the Government to withdraw the Bill as it did not serve the purpose of efficient administration.

Mr J Madhuswamy (JD-U) also expressed the same concern.

Replying, Mr Shettar said the Government was ready to abolish any post if it was a burden on the exchequer. In the present administration, appointment of Regional Commissioners was more appropriate, he added.

Dissatisfied with the Government's reply, the entire Opposition staged a walkout.
