Nursing students from Kerala in K'taka colleges grave: SIO
Kottayam, Apr 5 (UNI) Taking up the cause to save Nursing students from Kerala pursuing studies at colleges in Karnataka, leaders of the Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) today sought the intervention of the Kerala Government.
At a news conference here, SIO leaders pointed out that despite Dr Gurumurthy Commission revealing the plight of the nursing colleges in Karnataka and the resultant intervention of Kerala Human Rights Commission, the situation had not improved.
The problem had worsened now following the disaffiliation of 27 colleges by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health and Science (RGUHS), they said.
The students were being tortured mentally and physically, the SIO leaders alleged and sought the Kerala government's intervention to save and protect them.
Steps should be taken to contain the agents and agencies of the colleges operating in Kerala, they said and appealed to the parents not to send their wards to Karnataka colleges without making a proper inquiry.
