NTPC to set up power plant in Nigeria

New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) State-owned power major National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) is in the process of finalising a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian government for setting up power plants against allocation of LNG on long term basis for its plants in India.

Talking to reporters here today, Chairman T Sankaralingam said, ''a team is there in Nigeria to finalise the details.'' Moreover, the company has opened a representative office in Dubai to scout new business opportunities which include running gas-based power plant, maintenance operations and other on a BoT basis.

The company has signed an agreement with Japan-based Kyushu Electric Power Co (KEPCO) for establishing an alliance for exchange of information and experts from different areas of the business and will also set up a 500 MW coal-based power plant in Sri Lanka.
